1. When and why should I replace my car’s radiator?
Most manufacturers recommend that it be done every 8-10 years. However, as better engineered cars arrive on the market, this span is increasing. So, it depends on your car manufacturer’s instruction manual, what span it prescribes.
As to why you must change it is because over time and prolonged use, radiators can sustain damage due to reasons as varied as corrosion in the tubes, cracked tank, or even faulty seals. With such damage, it becomes imperative to replace the old radiator with a new one.
2. How should I take care of my car’s radiator?
There are a few simple things you can do, apart from regular service at your mechanic’s:
- Always keep a check on the coolant level and maintain it to an adequate limit.
- Check it for any outward damage before the beginning of summer and winter to save it from overheating.
- Flush the radiator once a year. If you are not able to do it, ensure that your mechanic does it.
3. Can a car log book service keep my car’s warranty intact?
Yes. Despite the fact that so many car owners think that getting log book services from any other mechanic except for the manufacturer’s nominated agency will render the warranty null and void, the case is not so.
You can get your car services from us as we ensure to follow the manufacturer’s terms and conditions for car service in order to maintain the warranty.
4. Is a spongy brake a matter of concern?
It certainly is, and a grave one at that. It can be a sure symptom of air in the hydraulic lines of the car’s brakes, which forms low hydraulic pressure. This in turn makes the brake pads/shoes ineffective. As a result, they are not able to transfer the required force from your foot to generate the requisite friction to stop your car safely.
Please get it fixed IMMEDIATELY.
5. Which colour coolant is the best for my car?
None and all. It is not the colour of the coolant that decides its effectiveness. Different coolant brands have different coolant colours just for the sake of branding. It is nothing but added dye. The best coolant for your car is the one recommended by your car manufacturer.
